Stainless security screws for door mirrors

Post by New Kentish Campers »

The fixing screws on my door mirrors are rusted and I am thinking of fitting some stainless steel ones. The ones I've seen advertised are the security type, dont show the thread size and come in packs of 10 and are quite expensive at nearly 2 quid each  .
So, does anyone know the thread size so that I can just buy some ordinary ones please?

Doug.

Do you mean £2 for EACH screw or £2 for 10?

M6 x 20

I got some from the link below but I was ordering some stainless steel bolts and other things as well and mine are for fitting to syncro style mirrors. They are not tamperproof as anyone can get the torx bit but it stops some random with a phillips screwdriver

I have found that hex pin fixings are not the best. The hex soon rounds off.

I changed my light fittings to torx pin

I've fitted my smoked rear lights with hex pin and they soon rounded after a few times being removed for rustoleum coats. Ditto the front grill fixing mod I made with hex pin screws.

I also have the Brickwerks tamper proof screws on my rear light clusters and indicators.......

mind you I suppose it might depend how often you remove and refit them. I've not removed the rear lights and indicator ones but I've had the mirror ones off and on a few times.
