Horn short circuit
T3 1989. When I turn the steering wheel, at a certain position, the horn goes off. Can I reroute the wire, that goes from the lower steering column down through the steering box, directly to the horn via another route? It's very hard to see what's going on with the wires under the van in the area of the steering box. The colour of the st column wire is brown and not the same colour as ones on the horn itself.

Re: Horn short circuit
Hello,
in my experience this is caused by the contract circle on the back of the steering wheel and the tab from the indicator switch causing flakes to get into the electrics behind and shoring out the horn positive wire. Not sure about rerouting, but I'd opine the wire in the steering column isn't your problem anyway - if you take the steering wheel off you could check what I said - I may be wrong, but worth a look.

Thanks Ewen, I'll have a look.
Re: Horn short circuit
Took me a long time to reply, sorry.
I took off the steering wheel and found one of the 3 long screws holding the contact plate was loose, the one just under the horn contact. It had been loctited before. It only stuck up about 0.5 millimeter but that was enough. So, thanks. Problem solved.
