replacement for my 1.6D engine...whats quickest

Post by 16vmini »

ok , i have a westy with a non turbo 1.6D ...

i am getting fed up of slowing down on hills ! lol .. i have 95% of the parts for a subauru SVX conversion ... but :

1) i dont have time to take it off the road to do yet
2) thinking it might not be right for the westy now ...

so looking at a quicker engine conversion for now , looking at doing a AAZ just to get me through the winter .. if i pickup a AAZ , will i have everything i need , (if taking parts of my 1.6 ie sump etc ) ?

cheers

Matt

Get a 1y, will be a straight swap, using a few bits off your engine. AAZ means you will have to source a few expensive bits. And if the 1y has TD stamped on the block, you can turbo it at a later date.
Time is a drug. Too much of it kills you

For a TDI you'll need to have longer 3rd and 4th.

Why not go golf GTI?

I'm not an expert in this but the DK ratios should be okay.

well i got the DK box for the ratios to keep the SVX revs down , so assume it would be cool for the TDI as well.

will keep you lot posted of my decision.
