Replacing single seat to bench seat

Post by Bessie the camper »

Evening folks I need HELP
Right where do I start ........ I'm taking out the passanger seat and replacing with a bench seat but the bench seat out of a crew cab so I need to make a support to hold the back up now the door side I can make a bracket to fit door pillar. The other side I was thinking of making a bracket that comes off where the drivers battery sits up to the seat or should I put a bar straight across from one door to the other but it needs to come away as I want to drop the back and turn into a small bed for Ruudi and ive still left the bottom half of the seat on the swivel base so I can still have a walk through is this safe
Second where do I stand as to seat belts can I use lap belts
Third MOT do I need to have it retested after job will they pass it or should I just put old one back when due

CHEERS FOR ANY REPLYS

all this so Annette doesn't look special any more sitting in the back waving to everyone :rofl

hi mate, might be worth ringing spannerboy. He bought a van off me, and he's broke it up.
It had a front passenger double seat designed to fit with no support for the backrest. It was part of the bilbo conversion and folded flat, so could be slept on. Long shot that he'll have it, but you never know..... I'll look for a pic, give us a couple mins to look

not the best pics, but all i have. the buddy seat with extra cushion, became part of the bed i think. You can just see the backrest support in bottom pic, this would lay down to become a bed

From memory one 3 point and one lap belt. I didn't really drive the thing, bought and sold within a couple weeks as a profit making exercise.

Hi, like the look of that double seat! What is it from - how did u get it to recline? I have just converted mine to a double seat using a old Mercedes-Benz bench seat, but like the idea of a reclining option!

Thanks, that would be great. I can see it will give a lot more flexiblity when camping - opening the cab area up again.
