Re: How do you use your gas?
Almost all 2 way fridges I've seen gas stays on when you switch to 12volt or 220volt unless you turn off gas valve!! The switch/switches turn the electric connection off and on, but don't turn gas off and on. 12volt should start when engine starts and turn off when engine turns off. I turn fridge to mains even when not hooked to mains so if gas runs out the piezo ignitor doesn't drain the battery trying to light gas.
Always use gas while driving. Too much of a pain turning off gas / 12v on. Stop and have to turn on gas, light fridge.

Re: How do you use your gas?
I have run it on gas whilst on the move - but only because I've forgotten to turn it off or it's been a short journey. Any driving involving a half decent distance and it's on 12v. Use mains if I'm on hook up but that's quite rare; so rare in fact I can only think of the Llangollen New Year meets where I've used hook up.
My fridge works more than adequately on 12v

same here .. mine will blow out if i drive to far .. you can then hear a clicking noise as it trys to start again ( wont as the thermocoupler has shut gas off )
so 12v when driving , and gas when parked .. cant get my 240v to work ... but thats another story and now i have replaced my old fan with a computer fan i can actually sleep now with the fan running ! LOL

Interesting point Matt.......We have been to south of France & Spain the last two years & have had to turn the fridgew off some nights because the fan kicks on so regularly & is so loud that we cant sleep!! Is it as easy as changing the fan as you have suggested?

Thanks Matt,
Is it still constantly running or did you manage to sort that problem?

i turned the fridge down , as i had it on max ( as far as i know the temp gauge only works for gas )
so i got it on med , and fridge is still nice and cold , and fan is not on all the time.
allthough i still might fit a 2nd fan when the fridge is out next

Re: How do you use your gas?
The fridge mod is well worth doing. The noisey fridge was a real pain two years ago central France. It was a very hot spell and the fan was clicking in and out every 5 minutes or so...sounded like a mini train, really annoying.
