steel wheels stripped and then lacquered?

started on a steel wheel. Does anyone strip their wheels back to steel then lacquer or is it not strong enough, does It need primer and metal paint first? Cheers.

if i was you i would sand them back then rust treat them then primer then wheel paint because i didnt rust treat mine or primer mine and the year after they just looked the same as they did before i bothered!!!

i used the alloy wheel paint from halfords as its looks (looked) realy good when i did it

yeah sure was!! 2 cans did 5 of my 13" wheels easily (not on the bus)
