Is anyone else thinking about arriving on the 24th? If so, shall I book the guide from the 25th? This will only give you 4 days off-roading.

We've had to book to arrive on 24th because we can't get to earlier sailing which leaves Portsmouth on 21st. We do have a bit of leeway at the other end of the week hence returning from Santander on 31st to make a week of it. If most people are going to be there by 24th we will of course still pay our share of guiding for that day.

Re: NORTHERN SPAIN PICOS DE EUROPA TOUR 2011
Hi Pete
Not a problem. If more people are looking at leaving the UK on the 23rd I could always try and start the off-roading on tuesday the 25th and finish on Saturday the 29th, allowing everyone to do the full 5 days. This would mean the earliest anyone could leave would be from Santander on Monday the 31st.

Re: NORTHERN SPAIN PICOS DE EUROPA TOUR 2011
Hi All
Just returned from a couple of days fun in the Picos. Whilst there I met with Europicos (http://europicos.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and arranged their services.
Europicos will provide an English speaking guide with vehicle for a 5 day period starting on Tuesday 25th October and ending on Saturday 29th October. Each day will start from 10am and end around 4-5pm. There will be an hour’s break for lunch and I suggested that we’ll provide our own food and refreshment. During each day there’ll also be a visit to a local tourist attraction. Europicos are preparing an itinerary which I hope to post soon.
The total cost is 1,350 Euros. I’ve got to say that this is an absolute bargain!!
Europicos have also offered to arrange an end of tour dinner for us all at a local restaurant. The cost of this would be 15 Euros per head. This price also includes wine.
I also visited a few local campsites. The best by far was Camping La Viorna (http://www.campinglaviorna.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) so I’ve booked us in from Monday 24th October to Sunday 30th October. They have kindly offered us a 20% discount so the cost per night will be;
Van 8.64 Euros
Adult 3.37 Euros each
Child 3.03 Euros each
Electric 2.59 Euros
On Sunday 30th October I suggest we all travel back towards Santander and spend the last night at my place. I also plan to ask permission for us to park all our vans in my local town square. Normally Santillana del Mar is closed to traffic but they do allow car clubs in to show their vehicles and to allow photos to be taken.
If anyone wants to spend a few more days either before or after the tour you’re more than welcome to park up at my place. I also have apartments for rent.
At the moment I don’t need a deposit from anyone. What I do need is the registration numbers of all the vehicles involved in the off-roading and the names of all the people taking part. I also need a copy of each vehicle owner’s driving licence which can be e-mailed to me at williamsinspain@hotmail.com. Anyone else who intends driving must also send me a copy of their licence.
If you’re not participating in the off-roading and just intend joining us at the campsite please also let me know your registration number and names so I can keep track of numbers, etc.
Cheers
Robert

Hi Nige
Thanks for that. I'll also need your full name, the names of any passengers and copies of drivers passports. All this can be sent directly to me at; williamsinspain@hotmail.com.
Anyone arriving early are welcome to pitch up at my place. In fact we could all meet up here on Monday before driving up to the Picos together.

Re: NORTHERN SPAIN PICOS DE EUROPA TOUR 2011
Details emailed. Thanks Rob.
Hoping to ferry down Fri/Sat so will be there a couple of days early. May take you up on the offer of rocking up at yours.
Lisa doesn't work Monday and Fridays as a teacher so our travel plans will likely have to fit within that. We may need to exit early to catch the Saturday ferry back. Pardon the impertinent question but is Tue-Sat for offroading definite as opposed to Mon-Fri?
cheers Patrick.

Hi Patrick
To be honest it looks like Tuesday to Saturday suits the majority better. It also fits in with the cheapest ferry option. What does everyone else think? There's still plenty of time to tweek things around.

Got some info from Brittany Ferries.
Group discount of 10% will only apply if 10 vehicles or more are all on the same sailing both ways.
If everyone books through me I can give a guest voucher that will give a discount, and we can have crossings to suit all individuals.
Example given to me was
Outbound on 21st from Portsmouth to Bilbao and return on 29th, Camper less than 5m long and less than 2.6 high with 2 berth cabin both ways. Normal £646. With voucher £594.40. I make this to be just under 9%. It would have to come down to £582 to be 10%.
Sorry I can't do any better but it does mean we can have flexibility with the crossings and get a discount.
Only other bonus is that the voucher number can be used again up to 10 times a year so reckon that will be on a first come first served basis.
Cheers Rich
Rich darling

any news or information on this discount scheme? I'm about to book the 23rd Plymouth santander ferry and return 31st santander Portsmouth return,,,so if you can tell me/us how we go about getting the discount I would be greatfull,,,as a long Wheel base vehicle is working out a lot more than the trusty T25's

Thanks Terry
