Headrests need a fitting thingy - what the devil is it?
hello fellow camper lovers,
Yet another weird question for you all- we bought two original Caravelle headrests for our 1980 Petrol Devon Conversion to try and add a bit of safety. The other half attempted to fit them the other day, however, we are lacking the fittings (he is calling them ratchets?!!) to keep them in place. We have original seats and the holes are all correct. What the dickens are these things called and where would we buy them?
If you have some of these ratchety thingies, please don't hesitate to contact me and we will buy them!!
All the best

Great news! But where do I get them?
Hi guys
Thanks for the reply - I only managed to find some on Machine 7, but they are nine pounds each. Anybody know of a cheaper dealer?

Does anybody know if other headrest inserts will fit?
Hi all
Yes I am obsessed with headrest fitting officially!
Does anyone know if you can substitute any other make of headrest guide/insert for the VW ones on original seats and caravelle headrests at all?
VW say they are discontinued and the ones I have found are 9 pounds each - more expensive than the headrests!!

You only need the clips, not the whole insert. Have made them in the past using cut lengths of coathanger bent to shape. Put a note in the 'wanted' forum.

Thanks!
But how do they stay put without inserts? I'm so sorry to be a bit thick! Am very happy if I can just make clips from coathangers, but what am i clipping them to without inserts? All knowledge gratefully received.
Have put a note in the wanted forum.
Many thanks
