Diamond Hell wrote:Nah, that's DSG - tiptronic just puts stupid flappy paddles on the steering column and allows you to move the gearshift across into a mode where you decide when to change gear, rather than the (no offence, Terry) rather intelligent computer deciding when to change.

IMO the tiptronic functionality on any gearbox without either sequential shifting and/or an electro-hydraulic clutch pack instead of a torque-converter is a bloody waste of time.

DSG is not a normal tiptronic gearbox, unless you have driven one don't knock it, it does everything better than a normal gearbox auto or manual.

I know DSG is supposed to be very good, hence I'm not knocking it, especially as I haven't driven it.

Tiptronic on the other hand, I've suffered plenty of times and hate with well-reasoned passion.

I agree tiptronic is a waste of space, a computer will always make the better call on when to change and as a result change quicker and smoother.

£5600 last time I saw, down from £6500 last year. Don't get me wrong it's a nice truck, but for that sort of money I'd want a new 2.1, power steering and a tristar interior too
