Clear rustproofing product?

Post by jiffies »

Hi
Anyone recommend a clear rustproof lacquer that I could use straight onto steel. Its not actually for my van but for a steel cruiser bike frame that I'm looking to keep its raw metal look. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Ankor wax

A bit like using pure lanolin for protecting aluminium stock bars and tube

Maybe OK, after a few weeks

Dintrol RC900 spray (see Wiki on Rust Poducts) can give quite a nice natural effect, turns metal black/purple but sometimes creates a nice 'crackle black' type finish.

Dinitrol Clear Lacquer is probably what you want, the one for hot engines

Thanks guys I presume this is the recommended choice?

Dinitrol Corroheat 4010

Maintain an immaculate engine bay with Dinitrol Corroheat 4010 - Clear Wax Treatment, a heat resistant, corrosion prevention giving a hard, transparent, protective, dry film. Has good adhesion to rubber and plastic parts. Also, it is resistant to alkalis and acids and has a very short drying time. Can be used as protection on painted surfaces.

Thats what I meant corroheat

But if you can afford a can of RC900 too, try it on rusty but dry and scale-free steel, for that 'retro' look.
