Re: Looking for a roof tent
We bought a roof tent in 1988, its a type "Adventure" from http://www.beduin-tents.de
For summer its perfect. We used it for several trips around Europe on our Caravelle syncro. Takes some time to close and pack it, but it's ok. Here some pictures:

These are the bollox, http://www.waypoint-tours.com/roof-tents.htm I had one for a while. Look at the others shown and see its just single skin in lots of the areas. the only way you will get wet with the one I had is if it rained upwards, and it doesnt

Andrew looked like he had a sofa on the roof on the way to Syncro 25. These look a lot better and more aerodynamic plus you could easily insulate the roof with some thermowrap http://www.rooftent.co.uk/webpages/magg ... afari.html

Re: Looking for a roof tent
Those look awesome...
That would be a dream for me - sling into the back of my Pickup, But £1300, eek...
That's £600 more than I paid for me bus
I think I'll have to make do with my pop up tent for another year, must attend to the rotting bodywork first

Yes I looked at those tents and at the time I bought mine they were just over €2000 which is a lot considering the amount of times Ive actually used mine. They are really good but the (new) one I looked at had a few tatty bits of workmanship showing. The one I eventually bought cost €420 + shipping

Re: Looking for a roof tent
Hi Adrian,
I've have been shopping around for a roof tent for my Doka.
Have you seen the Terrain roof tents on E-Bay for 650 pounds.
They appear to be the a reasonable offer as they are made for the British climate and claim therefore to be rain proof?
Company is British and offer a spare or repair service and a quick delivery time.
I've got fed up bidding on used roof tents and decided it is probably better to just spend the cash and get a nice fresh new one as long as it proves rain proof????
