Fuse box and fog lights

Post by ewenmaclean »

Hello,

after help and advice from Kevtherev, I sought out the pins on the fuse box which become live on side lights, and when on dipped beam. This page in the wiki:

https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/VW ... s_fuse_box

has a note on fog light fitting which is very useful - pin C22 actually comes from the relay in position 7 and should be used as a direct feed for the fog ights. I just wanted to annotate the picture a little more (apologies for appalling computer graphics skills)

Pin 18 on connector B, becomes live when the side lights are on, and hence can go straight to the fog light switch - coloured grey with a yellow stripe. On my van this was connected originally to the spade connector on the left of the picture with a red arrow - this becomes live only with dipped heafdlights.

This is a picture of the back of the fuse box with the grey and yellow wire from pin 18 of connector block B plugged in

As a further note, I reused a computer connector to wire up my fog lights into pin 22 of the C connector:

Which slots in and connects well. Someone will no doubt know where to get the correct original crimp connectors for these pins.

Hope this helps if someone's trying to work out how to get there foglights to come on with side lights!
