Hi,
Does anyone know of any campsites in walkable distance of a town center or just somewhere with a few restaurants and shops?
Basically, i want to be able to take the lovely wife out for a meal at a nice restaurant on me birthday weekend. Plan to spend Friday and Saturday night there so more than one restaurant is required
Was thinking of York Caravan club site - but its full according to its website. Might have to phone to confirm...
Thanks dudes,
Ringo

We stayed at the Scarborough camping and caravan site a couple of months ago, and its within walking distance of the town centre.
Great site and friendly. Takes about 20-40 mins to walk into town depending which way you go.

Derwent water caravan & camping site in keswick. Not stayed there but it's 10 min into town. Try morrell's restaurant - v good.

The C&CC site in Oxford is quite good, there's a bus service into town directly opposite and loads of good stuff to look at and place to eat in Oxford too
What a long strange trip it's been

If you want a local-ish trip Ringo how about the pikey weekender venue...
Procters at Barrow on Soar .
Pub across from the entrance has a Bistro, Just up the road is The Hunting Lodge hotel (http://www.thehuntinglodgebarrowonsoar.co.uk) at the site entrance is the Bengal Restaurant and The Navigation is a country style pub by the river that does good food...All within walking distance!
