Re: CB advise
Thunderpole are spot on fleabay is ok if you can garuntee (SP) its new or not broken or know someone/how to fix them.
Kevs link looks the ideal package a basic'ish radio etc and I would think it would come with a warranty (SP) IF it should go wrong. Thats just my opinion Im no CB expert though

Keep your sunny side up, your shiny side down, keep the lipstick off you're dipstick, keep the twigs a wiggleling and the seat covers giggleling, on the side, satisfied, way down, way gone...breakabreak.
FM (frequency modulation) in the UK
AM (amplitude modulation) in the EU etc
Combined with slightly different frequencies means you can't talk to anyone other than UK users with a UK legal rig.
But there are lots of multiband options out there....that is..sets available that will work on all frequencies...good if you go abroad or talk to original AM rig users.

incorrect, in as far as AM is illegal in all countrys apart from holland, ireland , italy (where nothing is legal or illegal cb wise)and canada - all other countrys use FM , in a variety of differnet frequency configureations - the uk set of frequencys is unique, as it is offset channel spacing, and split between reconised bands.
The uk have 80 channels of FM - 40 uk only, and 40 eu , so you can talk to the rest of europe legally from the uk.Red Westie wrote:Combined with slightly different frequencies means you can't talk to anyone other than UK users with a UK legal rig.
as per above, incorrect.Red Westie wrote:But there are lots of multiband options out there....that is..sets available that will work on all frequencies...good if you go abroad or talk to original AM rig users.
martin is confusing "carrier" with "frequency", But, dont worry about the EU40fm, they are a waste of time and energy, which is why the uk were pressurised into keeping the quirky uk40fm by the users back in 92.

Re: CB advise
Mocki.....you may well be correct, as you can tell I was one of the original illegal rebels, my handle was Black Angel...rather melodramatic but it was several decades ago now...the info I quoted was from memory so historic, I hadn't realized things had changed...Like I say, I have no recent experience only the several years of use I gained with AM/sideband/homebase and burners from the late 70's.
I try not to spout unless I know what I'm talking about but the changes I wasn't aware of so appologies.
Martin
