First of all may I wish you all a great weekend. I appreciate that some of you would prefer to go somewhere nearer and that Shirebrook is more your cup of tea. That's fine.
Just been reading some comments on this thread, and reading some of my pm's. Now, to answer a few of them:
Rainton was NOT a one night thing, stay as long as you like. A meal in the pub to show your appreciation was a suggestion, not an order! Rainton was also able to offer entertainment, I had a 60's group lined up, at my own expense! You had the option of paying £5 to camp which would have been donated to Yorkshire air ambulance. Or you could camp for free!!! There was the choice of the pub car park, the cricket field or the "Lord of the Manor's" own land. You had the choice!
Am I annoyed about the clash of dates? Yes I am! I remember being told I was not being polite when I set a date which clashed, no comment from the same area over this clash of dates. I do not attend lot's of events due to various issues (mainly health and van reliability) but do try to help support this club. I have often offered 80-90 express when going places, and have, indeed, delivered and collected on many occasions. I have benefited from 80-90 express too! I have also organised Rainton for 3 years now. this year I have personal problems which have meant that it is difficult for me to attend, but I will get around them and get there.
Anyway, I just felt I should reply to the comments.
In conclusion, if you have any other comments to make please post them here, rather than pm me with your snide remarks.
I hope Shirebrook goes well.

meggles wrote:Rozzo, I never for a moment thought you'd clashed on purpose. Obviously better for Rainton if you hadn't but hey, its as you said. You didn't fancy it! I just don't understand why people were not that interested in Rainton when the original plan was a fundraiser offering free camping and a free live band. Also I offered to alter things to suit the majority. Anyway, no doubt those who come will have as good a time as last year. Especially if I have the steak again.
Just seems a shame I put so much into getting it organised for a bigger and better meet this year then had to scale it down. I remember someone saying we should all try to give a little back to the club. Well, I've tried. We live and learn.
BTW, if the dates didn't clash I'd probs have come to yours 'cos my Uncle lives nearby
Hope it goes well.
i thought so
a few pages ago this was put to bed,, you said you didn't understand why peeps weren't interested,, neither do i but for some reason they weren't at that time. most for this one are from very local and the simple fact is that spare money is short and fuel is a fortune. i haven't looked in on your thread as i've been concentrating on making this one work. i just really hope that your last post isn't an attempt to spoil this event as that simply isn't cricket?

No way am I trying to spoil this event!! I am more than a little surprised at the suggestion!!! I really do hope it goes well. I am happy to see 80-90ers having a great time and I know how much effort goes into organizing these meets. I appreciate the costs involved for some of you. I too thought it all was put to bed ages ago. Unfortunately a certain cretin (who's probably going to read this) sent me a nasty pm. Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have posted a "knee jerk" response on here last night but I was VERY angry. I only want to see this club flourish!!

To everyone going to Shirebrook, I hope you have a great time, Drive carefully!!!!

Keith, please sort this out with with the person concerned via pm, or contact a moderator. Re-opening this hornet's nest after it has already been discussed will only create bad feeling and is of no benefit to 80-90, quite the opposite imho.

None in Chesterfield at all, the nearest is probably the one off the Notts ring road at junction with the 610. No-doubt the locals will know if there's one nearerer.
