New Ply Interior Panels

Morning folks

Searching here for info on new interior panels has given a variety of posts, some urging DIY and others going to Just Kampers, with variable degrees of satisfaction

I'm looking for new interior panels as a part of the refit of my 1987 Autohomes. The old panels are pretty worn and some water damage. I'm going to go with ply for the new ones. Time (and space) is of the essence however so DIY is out ! Found these on eBay.. your opinions on (or direct experience of) said ebay item much appreciated. Just doing the usual sanity check here before parting with $$

Seems ok but you sure you cant make your own???? If yours is a camper you might not need ones for behind the cupboards etc!

If you have ones to pattern from there easy!

They look fine and ply is probably better than the mdf the jK ones are made of and for £105 posted BIN they look good value.

If you wanted to spend less, I have a complete set of the JK ones with the plastic fixing lugs sat in my garage that I decided not to use. There's a little nick out of a couple of corners caused in the post bit otherwise are ok. £50 posted?

I recently made all new panels for my van. 3 sheets (4'x8')of 3.6mm ply @ £6.90 each (granted I got a good deal at TP on that) About 3-4 hours with a jigsaw had them spot on. I was working from scratch, you'll have templates so much quicker. Sealed both sides with PVA, job done. Fraction of the cost and not really very heavy on time... Just an idea.

Thanks for the nice balance of replies fellas. Yeah.. OK, OK, I'll DIY it after all The cost is so much lower and if it's only a half days jigsaw time then so be it. Without the luxury of a garage/workshop I have to wait for dry weekends outside for this sort of thing, but the clocks have changed and more outside time in the evenings now ! Just neeeeeed to get the van back together

Thanks for that JK offer SyncroSwede, but I want to go with ply. MDF is the sheet material of the devil .. IMVHO.

Going DIY I can also custom fit with larger complete panels and avoid fighting with weak plastic panel clips. Likely use a smaller amount of flange head no 8 self tappers screwed into these FIX71P fellas, which snap directly into the 8mm holes in the VW metalwork. Tidy and a firm fix.

theres a place in rotherham that does the finished 3mm and 6mm ply, finished as in vinyl coated for caravans and campers etc in various colours for £15 each. ive seen and felt the stock and its good gear. let me know if its close enough for you and i shall pass on contact details.

Thanks for the Rotherham tip. Only about 50 miles north of us so do-able. Do they have a website ?
I'm covering my panels with the beige-ish lining carpet from Woolies though, as that closely matches the original hitop lining fitted by Autohomes, so would need uncovered ply.

the finished boards are an alternative to carpet so probably not what you need. and you can get unfinished ply cheaper.

I bought some of the ebay ones they are fine one or two of the cip holes are fractionly out but nothing to worry about.

Hi,

I know this is a stupid question before I even ask it but here goes anyway...

These Bresco clips mentioned FIX71P - I've got some and they don't seem to have any thread inside, just solid at the bottom. Do I just screw through the bottom with self tappers to hold secure?
