what have i done wrong this time?

okay ,1.9 dg wbx got it back together fires up with gas ticks over with gas wont idle ,timings not quite right ,but i cant get it running to do timing ,sat in cab feathering gas to keep it alive then as battery eventualy finds charge ,light goes out engine dies did this 6 or 7 times ,what wold cause this or is it possible i gotta wire wrong in engine bay (sure there right).any help most welcome,,.i gave up it got dark. :(

when you say gas do you mean LPG or petrol ?
you need to get it running nice and smooth on petrol first and then switch it over to lpg and then sort that out

ha i should a said loud peddle i aint a yank ,,petrol unleaded,,boring dont think these work on lpg,,cheers

WBX work very well on LPG.... :wink:

Timng can be done static.. doesnt need to be running.. procedure is in the haynes manual for setting timing staic.. this WILL get you running

Is the distributor drie in the coerect position?
are there any air leaks on the manifold and carb?
is the float bowl in the carb ful of crud?

thankyou mr onion,i set by the book tis no good if i turn dizzy anticlockwise it no longer looks like book set but i can get it going ,i think your right on the carb aswell ,now im at the stage where engines going but if i try to engage gears ,,dead stalls as before but past battery light out,,am going to buy new vacume pipes an try again

Not sure about the whole LPG scene, but last time my bus would not idle I found it was a break in the wire that runs from the coil to both the carbs, replaced the sucker and we were back in business. Maybe worth a look.

then pray tell how do you move the dizzy,properly i was thinking 180 out but it only seems to go in one way the slots and ridges being offset ,or should i withdraw dizzy shaft turn engine by hand around to tdc again then reinsert mabe i,m not on compression stroke?many thanks for help ,will check the wire again:- tin of carb cleaner carbs r clean £4.50 changed all vacum pipes short bits £1.70 did wd 40 test around well everything,manifold was leaking air in off clean reseat already had stuff for that .whoo hoo it now sort of splutters along im getting there!thanks all 8)
