Exhaust

Post by Rolling Thunder »

Hi all,

Just read the wiki on the exhausts and interested in the motorbike end can conversion (being a biker too).

I've got a 1.9 watercooled (1990 reg). Has anyone tried this mod to theirs?

Looks like a its possible to modify a link pipe to fit any end can - and some good ones come cheap on flea bay.

Is there any markings that must/must not be on the can, or any issues for MOT purpose?

Cheers
Stewart

this'll be one for CovKid! sure he'll be on shortly - his mod is pretty smart (and cheap!)

Sorry to hijack, but can you get pre made modded end pipes to tidy the old iron up a bit?

Awesome!

Wish my welding was that good

Decided to start by finding something that looked the same thickness as the panels on my van.
I now have a workshop bin full of holes

My T25 has a kawasaki end can on when i bought it so its definately possible, mine was rotten though and i couldnt match up a replacement using the codes on it.

Wont be that hard to get one though, im sure alot of big engined fourstroke exhausts will fit (racing bikes etc)

Im currently building an exhaust for my aaz engined van

Plan to run with no silencer, just relying on the turbo to sloww down and dampen the exhaust noise

A chap local to me has a 1.9 tdi set up in a split screen pick up and it sounds great, whistles like a jet engine.

Son has also just purchsed a heavily modifeied 147 bhp Seat Leon 1.9 tdi ( re mapped etc) which also features no silencer at all-- but havent heard it it yet

will let u know how I get on

I'm now running a gsxr can on the end of my 1991 dg motor. I bought one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Got the guy to make it with a 48mm slip on and 3 bolt holes with 80mm pcd. Chopped link pipe off about 40mm from join with cast knuckle slipped can on the end, notched rear valance and made a mount up to support can from pipe joining 1 and 3 cylinders and bobs your uncle. More details will follow, sounds meaty without being OTT

I have a stainless custom built silencer, with a twin outlet, look's good and sound's fantastic, plus give's an additional 15% increase in power, direct replacement for existing silencer.
You tube type in "vw t25 t3 exhaust", it will be on a white F reg van, plus I have a spare one available for sale.
