We had a bit of a google around and although the timers look the same it seems that there is one fitted to bt vans and then the 701. They can be identified from a blue eber logo.
Ours has a white logo, can't access the fault codes or extend the running time.
Have emailed the bloke we bought it off so we'll wait and see.

Well there is a fault with the D2 fitted to my van.I replaced the bt 7 day timer for a 801 10 103 dig mini controller with diagnostics. The problem is this when it was wired to the bt timer& and then when i replaced it for a 801 when heat is pressed on it fires up for aprox 30 secs gets into boost &.hot then shuts down .The diagnostic code on the 801 shows no fault.I wired it up slightly diffrent so the external temp sensor which is combined with the 801 to see if that would regulate & control the temp constant which is wired red to red yellow to yellow grey to grey brown to brown/white. The grey wire to the brown/white is connected to the external sensor red to yellow is the on heat for the burner the diagnostic wire is blue/white .Doing it this way i managed to keep the heater running constant but i carnt control the temp it just keeps on high mode. Its a bit confusing though as no fault code comes up on the diagnostics on the 801 10 103 digi mini controller.Thoughts are its a ECU fault & ouch are they expensive & carnt afford so looking out for an other D2 unit or good used ECU.

bt timer doesn`t have diagnostics either. not 100% but if you supply yellow wire to ecu on heater loom with perm 12+ve will it run continiously then.

had to buy new ecu for mine but its working now so i can finish the install atlast. :ok

red is power in, brown or black earth in, yellow goes live when you switch the timer on, yellow is the control wire.

So, looking at the wiring now to overcome the 1 hour thing. Does this render the unit as a standard control unit ie: only able to use it manually and not use the programming function to come on/off when set.
Basically we bought it so we could set the timer and the heat would flow throughout the van at a set time especially when we are feeling particuarly lazy and stay snug in the house. But then to allow us to switch the heating on when needed while camping and have heat overnight and not wake up with limbs/digits dropping off with frost bite.

if you rig up a seperate illuminated aux switch next to the heater that takes 12v+ve from the heavy duty red wire on the heater direct to the yellow wire on the heater then with the switch "off" the timer system should work as intended but only for an hour. then if you flick the aux switch "on" you should be able to run the heater continiously with heat controll from the timer itself.

i think............... dont blame me if you blow yourself up.
