Hi,
Going camping in van in ten days time.
Looking around Malham, Settle, Grassington in Yorkshire Dales.
Many sites not open until March.
Does anyone know of any sites that may be open or any good places to park for free in lay by's for example...?
Cheers
Chris

You better wash your mouth out first, YOURkshire
Yep loads of places
epends what you want , we used to go up there every weekend the other year, If you drive past settle and go to clapham then you can park free onstreet, go past the pub, carpark and shop and park up or use the carpark after 6 never had a problem and the cafe is good have a mate that runs it.
go a couple of miles furth on to hellwith bridge and park opposite the pub,
you can also park up alongside giggleswick school nr the golfcourse
you really are spoilt for choice
enjoy it

There is also a discrete spot at Street Gate, just between Malham Cove and Tarn.
Bit isolated (but isn't that the point?), and secluded by raised earthworks around a small quarry-looking thing.

Ribblehead viaduct near the pub is common land and there is plenty of hardstanding for a camper. You should not have any problems there.
