Well, with all that effort wouldn't you think they'd put the fog lights on straight. Whoever did that needs kicking!

Nice to see another Tristar saved!

when i looked at it around march it was looking very sad for it's self, icould not make out the guy that was selling it. he new exactly what he had and just did not sceam to care about state that it was in, and all the things that were wrong with it. it realy did put the one that i bought it to perspective, not rusty but a bit beatern up. and he was asking over £4000 back then.
if i were to buy it i would want a lot of photos to see how all the rust was delt with, as we all know it will caome back and bite who ever buys it in the ass

good to see anouther one saved though

I bought mine off Guy, and only lately is it enjoyable rather than stressful to drive... at times it has almost been too much to even contemplate getting in when a long journey home loaded to the gills loomed
At the first event when we took the VC out Russel said: Well, I've never seen one strip it's splines quite like that before! About 1/2 pint of treacle came out the diff, that was all.
Went out today to pick some bits up and actually reflected on how nice it felt to drive, not perfect by any means, but actually enjoyable... it's been a long battle (with many good people from 80-90 helping along the way, one way or another - thanks!)
To be fair, he didn't own or use it for very long, soon buying the Tristar and opted for that - on balance, although he reckoned mine was less rusty in many places - its sole redeeming feature.
Mine was after all, found in a field somewhere near Maidenhead , so Guy saved it if I got the story right, I bet it was a sorry looking thing then (and some would say still is  )

Yes, that's right. And good to see some proper money spent on it :ok
Whoever did it, their hoover and workshop will be full of sand, gravel, cement and anything else a builder uses - ah yes, old rusty nails, mine had plenty rattling about in its rear panels (why on earth did VW punch holes in the top, not bottom of that member behind the bumper, in a pickup truck with a loadbed, most frustrating when shovel loading the thing

Certainly looks lovely externally now, although from what you both say, there is still a questionmark over it...
