Rustoleum Colour Matching

Post by alexm77 »

I want to spruce up my van a bit, so planning on using Rustoleum + roller. The van has previously been sprayed in Ford Balliol Blue. I'm trying to find the closest rustoleum colour to this, though doesn't need to be absoloutely perfect match. Got sent a rustoleum chart, but it doesn't seem to have many colours on it - the nearest blue is quite a bit darker. Struggling to find a local garage with a RAL colour chart. Is there a bigger rustoleum chart than the leaflet they send out, or does anyone know the RAL number for the Balliol blue?

cheers.

Try these guys in wolverhampton http://www.rustoleumdirect.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They supplied me a chart with a huge range of RAL colours.

Rustoleumdirect have forwarded me to the swatches on their website. I would have hoped that someone that specialises in coloured paint realises you can't get acurate paint colours on a monitor! :?

and do you think a Litho printed wall chart will be accurate too :ok

Calibrate your monitor.

If you use a PC then the screen colour will show darker.

If you use a MAC it will be much closer.

Yep - a litho printed chart will be a lot more acurate. I work in design - monitor calibration isn't good enough for this sort of thing. That's why you use pantone charts ;)

Actually, I'm not fussed about a 100% match, but I'm not gonna order a tin of paint based on a colour from a monitor. The guy at combicolour has some other chart (british standard or something) he's gonna send me :ok

Rob - just want to have some idea of what i'm getting before i order, and margin of error is too great from a monitor representation.

I am a graphic designer
My screen at work is very close to what we print.
A wall chart will only be close if its spot colours, not process as a lot seem to be.

Don't get me started on Pantone books and numpy customers

Just paint the whole van. No matching required

fair point eatcustard. I assumed the charts would be pretty acurate, but guess they're not then.

Reckon it'll take me ages to get round to doing the whole thing. i like the idea of doing a panel at a time, so spose i'll live with it being a bit patchy. Probably won't have finished the prep til next year anyway!

I thought that but once I started it seemed pointless and more effort to do it piecemeal
