lowering panel van

Hi there im wanting to lower my panel van by 50mm so ive just looked on brickwerks at there avo springs and i noticed it say s that 70mm ones are best for panel vans.Is this because panel vans came out the factory higher than normal as mine does seem particualy high compared with others.
has anyone out there lowewred there panel van and have any advice?
or has anyone brought these avo springs as im also considering getting the blistein dampners aswell.

OK i'll have a go at answering ....

From what I gather (and as ever I will stand corrected ) panel vans came out of the factory at a "normal" height ... its some of the later minibus style vans which came out lower by 30mm. What makes you think yours is higher than others? Are you comparing it to campers or buses? Don't forget the extra weight will make them look lower, I had mine parked next to an empty panel van in a carpark and I sat about an inch lower than it did!

-50mm springs will drop you down 50mm from this normal height, -70mm will drop you down 70mm from this normal height. If you had one of these later vans already dropped by the factory by 30mm you would only get another 40mm drop ie 30mm original drop + 40mm new drop = 70mm not 30mm original drop + 70mm new drop = 100mm ... make sense?

Have a read and do a search both here on the brick-yard.co.uk there's a whole load of people who've dropped their vans.

As for Avo and Bilsteins, probably one of the best on the market and from what I gather the most popular choice.

It's just down to weight reasons panel vans are lighter than a big fat camper n should be fine on -70mm...

I think my springs were the -70mm, it doesnt look too much lower on the rear but the front is much lower as seen in the pics. The van was a panel van originally but now has a rock and roll bed but not full interior so not that heavy. I haven't changed the shocks but had no issues anyway. The handling feels better but it is still a comfy ride

thanks for your replys my panel van is a fully converted camper with a devon roof ,cupboards,r+r bed so its has plenty of weight in it but up against other campers it looks very high and the handleing is shocking.
i think i will go for the 70mm springs and hope for the best cheers again

having seen a devon -70mm i would be very suspect fella

- 50mm is the way forward i reckons!!
