Bloody electrics

Post by jimbobbig »

I have a problem with the electrics in my 89 caravelle. When you turn the ignition the indicator flasher relay clicks like crazy then stops. I replaced the relay and it still happens.
Also as soon as turn the ignition the fuse for the radio and cig lighter blows.
Also the green indicator light on the dash is on constantly.
Someone please help.

Ummm - I suggested thaty because of the radio / lighter fuse blowing.

Try disconnecting both the ciggy lighter and the live feeds to the radio and see if the fuse blows then

Radios have a thing inside called a diode, it is designed to go into a short circuit if someone gets the live and earth wires mixed up. If that had happened then that would explain that fuse blowing.

Does the engine start and run OK ?

Engine starts fine. Radio and cig lighter work fine until ignition is turned then the fuse blows. Its like the ignition is blowing the fuse. Everything else works fine.
