Help -- 1.9 diesel sump removal

Post by diesel-dub »

Hi all
I am having a problem removing the sump from a 1y engine to replace it with my 1.6 one.
I have removed all the sump bolts and clutch and flywheel but the sump seems to be hanging on the oil pickup pipe and no amount of jiggling about will free it.
Do I need to disconnect anything else to free it?

I have looked in the faq and wiki but couldn't see anything to help.
Thanks.

If you've removed all of the bolts and it's just hanging there then it'll be catching on the sump baffles or the deflector plate at the end of the pump pick up, which you're changing anyway.

Jiggle it about and give it a good tug.

Cheers Diamond
That seems to be the case -pickup pipe stuck under the baffles.
it's hanging on a hoist at the moment so i just needed to check I hadn't missed undoing anything before I get angry with it!!!
Thanks
