Sticking Accelerator Pedal......Help Please

Post by jaymo »

Hi Folks,

My Caravelle appears to have developed a sticking Accelerator Pedal.

I've tried squirting WD40 into the hole under the pedal where the linkage is, but still the pedal comes up slowly when my foot is removed.

Is there anything else I should be doing :?:

Change the cable. I expect its rusted solid or frayed. Tis a normal complaint.

WD40 the return spring on the carb before changing the cable, espicially as you say it returns slowly. Squirt some down the cable from the engine end as well.

Change the cable. Not too expensive.

Either that or it may stick when you're pulling away from lights so that you end up with full throttle mid gear-change...a nice scream from the back.... followed by persistent ticking sound that requires a trip to Mr. Baxter's hospital.

Stripped the threads off the studs that hold the rockers in somehow...

P.S. You should have a speed limited rotor arm. Great invention. Wish I'd had one!
