Sometimes when we leave our fridge "on gas" for a long time I'm convinced I can smell gas. Now we tend not to have it on except on electric hook-up.

Is there a battery powered alarm you can get for gas??, all the one's I've found are 240V which defeat's the object :x
If its not broken, tinker with it, then when you break it phone your dad. Work's well for me!

We picked up 2 Battery powered CO monitor/alarms for £10 each from B&Q a few weeks ago.
1 for the van and 1 for the house.

Yes there are small portable gas detectors on the market.
Think they are about £20 on Ebay.

yes u can drive with the gas on the only problem is it could cause a venturi effect and blow out the pilot flame, but that ok cause once the thermocouple detects no flame it will active the shutting down of the gas valve within 40 - 90 seconds.

CO2 detectors DO NOT DETECT A GAS ESCAPE they detect co2 a non smelling/visual gas that is giving off by incompleat combustion on any open flued or fluless gas applience ie your cooker. SO IF WHEN COOKING YOU HAVE A FLOPPY YELLOW FLAME YOU HAVE TROUBLE, SAME WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE INSPECTION HOLE ON THE FRIDGE

LPG is heavier than air and if you have a gas escape it will lie in low areas like the steps at the driver and passanger doors hence the vents in the floors( and if your really posh its in a sealed compartment)
Argh it be rough today(Member 969
