Front grille eyebrow spoiler fitting?

Post by orangebooboobearcrew »

Hi, we have an eyebrow spoiler all painted and ready to fit above the front grille on our 1980 air cooled.

Has anyone done this and if so, what is the best way to attach it to the grille? Could you use grip adhesive (is this likely to be secure enough) or is screwing the only other option?

Cheers. :?

Sicoflex sounds a tad too permanent to me. :( This may be ok with the shallow eyebrow spoiler but not the deep one. The deep one needs to be removed to adjust the headlight aim if required.

I have the deep one on my van & it is fitted using a small self tapper at each top corner. Iirc the self tapper goes through the spoiler & into a small metal square thing attached to the upper grille. (N.B. ''small metal square thing'' is a technical term  ).

Thanks for the tip. Excuse my ignorance but was is sicoflex and where do you get it from?
Regarding using self tappers, not sure what bit you are referring to 'metal thing on grille'? Don't suppose you have any pics do you? I think my spoiler is the shallow one.

Sicoflex is the stuff used to stick a high top to the edges of a vehicle roof.
It will not react with metal unlike silicone sealant which cause corrosion. I'll have to go outside & double check whether or not those self tappers are screwed directly into the plastic grille or into a ''metal thingy''. :D

Got mine from a guy at Vanfest but he's based in germay. Try www.rhoen-bull.de

I think Volksmagic do them as well...
