Tank swirl

Post by markscoot »

I am suffering from fuel swirl in tank. I have clear line to my pump and can see air bubbles whilst running.
My tank is a new 1600 diesel one.
Have had long discussions and have done tests.Definately need swirl pot in tank as per 2.1. Motor cutts out some times at junctions due to momentary lack of fuel pressure.
Gonna buy a tank asap.

yep wasnt the exhaust.. put a new one on, sounds a little sweeter actually, used volvo backbox again.

Yeh looks like a new tank might be it as it was a fuel starvation problem...some gunk and water in the pump...

Gunk in pump

Post by markscoot »

Fellow work collegue and mechanic and ex AA man for 25 years recons a swirl pot is absolutely essental. It keeps the fuel pressure constant and prevents damage to the pump.He also said that the positive terminal must be at the top and the pump below the tank.
VW made a fuel injection tank with swirl pot for a reason.Nuff said.
Cheers. :)
