Anyone know where I can get solid cam followers for 1.9 DG wbx engine.
I want to fit 1:1.4 ratio Rockers but I assume I need to fit solid cam followers.

they will work on the hydros.. I know of a couple that are running them.. I have yet to fit mine (maybe next week)
As for solids on a hydro cam, there is some debate over this.. some say yes, some say no... until I can see a hydro next to a solid and measure i cant say.. and seeming as they never made the WBX with a solid lifter cam, it would have to be a "beetle" cam.. that means its a different cam in anycase..

This what I thought I understood about the difference in hydro/solid cam types...
If anyone can clarify it I would apperciate it....
Let me try and see if I can explain how I understand the difference..
a cam for a hydro has a "kick" on the initial opening, to take up the "slack" in the lifter (the oil essentially acts as a damper as the ball shuts off etc)
if hydro lifters run on a solid cam this means it takes a lot longer to get the ball shut off and the damping effect isnt present really.. the valve doesnt open as far as quickly..
If solids are run on a hydro cam, then the "kick" at the start is effectively taking up the "clearance's" in lifter/pushrod/rocker/valve tip instantly.. like said "hitting with a hammer". where the solid cam would start off gently and accelerate fast when its got the valve train moving...

I'll tell you what I think too.. I've never got hydraulics to run on a solid cam but have seen loads of solids running on hydraulics withy no probs.
If you're serious about runnng 1.4:1 rockers, watch the cleacance of the push rod to the tube and make sure you have .090" possible further movement with the valve fully down. You'll be hittin the top of the guide.
I suggest solids, preferable second hand on an old cam with 1.25 rockers.
You'll also need type 1 13/15/1600 push rods. Old stock only, the new 'pattern' ones are crap.
If you use the rockers with the adjuster at the bottom, use lash caps or they'll wipe your valve tops out in time.

If I run the standard hydraulic cam and followers then what push rods will I need?
I assumed that I would be ok with the standard cam on 1:1.4. Would there be any advantages in running 1:1.25s? other reduced valve train load?

As I said, its how I thought the differences were, but very confused over the actual .. only ever run hydro's on a hydro cam..
I do know that the 1.4 rockers I have need the rocker post or rocker clearancing as 2 of them touch.. one of the reasons I havent fitted to a running engine as I didnt want any potential swarf in there...
Like a lot of things, not as simple as just bolting on... yes they might, but they may also cause extra wear etc if not set up correctly..
