Traditional Signwriting

Having been in the sign industry for 23 years and now in project management, i picked up my old signwriting brushes today and realised i can still do it :lol:

If anyone has any requirements let me know, i am based in woking, surrey.

it has been so long since i used to do it, i was thinking more of custom work, pinstriping or 'aged' commercial authentic signwriting, whatever really...

The "aged" commercial signwriting sounds a good idea. I just need to find a canvas for you to work on.

I thought that all sign writers and long gone... get practicing and stick an ad in the classic commercials mags.......

Nothing nicer than a well signed "classic truck" all the panels "coachlined"

Mmm... wonder if its a look that could work on the doka...... :idea:

aged is like the old writing on commercial vans, very streaky and most likely a matt finish to make it look like its been there forever

Pinstriping is thin lines and shapes :wink:

im a trad signwriter too, i once painted LAUNDERETTE on a shopfront,30 feet long, big letters, 2 days later got a phone call,the owner told me i had spelt it wrong ! i had missed out the letter U. !! (could have cried) ha ha, oh well. :oops:

I may be interested in something like this - we were considering getting some 'tongue in cheek' sign written graphics for the side of ours. Could you post up some examples or summat?

We'd be keen on some traditional 'tattoo style' italic text such as this:

no modern tricknology, old dogs,new tricks,ect. yes still do the odd bit, i enjoy it more now because its a bit of a pastime, it was murder years ago when all my kids were starving and crying and depending on me, ha ha, bless em. ive been thinkin of doin summat a bit rad on my ole ratty, when i get everything else done. :roll:
(1600 N/A diesel , homebrewed,duckbilled rattybus.)

I used to do this years and years ago... recently discovered my old sables
and pinstripers.

A noble skill and will always be in demand... lettering and leafing was my forte.. I had dozens of fonts in my head.

oddest job were two bicycles... pinned and lettered "Aelfric" and "Baerwulf"
