Hi All,
I'm in the process of cleaning up a 5-speed gear linkage for my T25 and have one bit which I want to get off but can't. Didn't know if anyone had any tips.
It's this bit on the end here...

It has a wierd little hole type thing at the bottom where you'd normally expect a bolt head to be or something...

..and inside the tube bit there is what appears to be a nut, but it feels too rounded to be a nut and I can't get any grip on it with my socket set

Is that indeed meant to be a nut in there? (in which case I may be screwed because it's gone awfully rounded
).
Any advice on getting this bit off the main linkage rod?

it looks like a snapped off grease nipple to me....

If I am looking at the right bit, Haynes shows a SPRING PIN in that position, also known as a ROLL PIN, take a look at the link for a drawing of one. You are talking about the gearbox end of the linkage I take it?

Knock that sucker out with a drift, it is a spring pin 6X 32mm according to Etos

As Bob says, knock it out/through with a punch, dont forget to replace the rubber bellows that fits over it, I dont think the one shown on your picky is available buut I used one off an old master cyc for that.

soak the life out of it with duck oil or wd40 etc for as long over night in a bowl if you can then using as closer size drift to the roll pin and with it in a vice drift it out!

option a would let you grip it with something once it has come out a little way, roll pin has parallel sides so it could go either way .
