New Pop Top/Roof Latches

Post by Steve P »

Hi Guys

I don't know whether anyone is looking for any latches at the moment. We were in search of the illusive Viking Roof Latches.

Someone on another forum suggested we try Protex Fasteners. www.protex.com.

Hope it's ok to put a link on this message, if not please delete.

They aren't cheap but what has come through the post today looks good.

We have a viking with the origional fasteners missing and like Fritz as he knows have tried and failed to find any. we are using a made up system of luggage webbing straps and clasps and some ally brackets at the moment.

sorry - confused here....Fritz - not sure which ones you are referring to....under the flags??

do you think the first product in the adjustable heavy duty section will work. Would put a link, but the thing isn't working for me today?? Shown below...y isn't it working??

If I read the abbreviations correctly, the catch weighs 200g, and has a tensile strenght of 1000kg! Its in the heavy duty section, and is adjustable, like the ones on my bilbo roof. I prefer the look of this to the replacement rubber ones shown in JK....these are around £10 delivered. Only thing that worries me is the size of the fixing holes....5mm....is this too large or about right?

Fritz - do you think these will do the job? Made from mild steel with a zinc finish.

thanks

Emma, I 'm sure the ones you have identified will do the job, it is just they are ugly looking things and are more suited to hatches rather than camper roofs.IMHO

3 Flags on home page,

Fritz,
agree with you on the "looks", but seeing as my viking in the garage has NO clips, I'm going to need something!

And I want something that will do the job properly.

So its a toss up between these and the JK ones (which do look porettier...just not sure if they will do the job for long....they are rubber are they not?

thanks for the comment, though, Fritz and I know which flags you are referring to now...
