Forgot to add.

Sure it can be sprayed on but then we're back to a vehicle sat there unusable for days at a time. The whole point of doing it this way is its less messy, no overspray, no guns to clean, just dispose of roller and tray then drive it in 2-3 hours.

Can also be fitted in around work/kids/family etc.

Okay so its the roller for me then, If it took days to dry I would have fingermarks every half hour where I was testing to see if the paint is still wet!!

Anyone want a spraykit?
If you can't weld it try bostic!!

Drying time will be longer certainly as it'll need thinning more plus with spray you'll need to mask everything including family cat - goes everywhere. Lot more work in my view (and probably more paint) but the finish may well come out better. I wouldn't spray one having done it this way - unless I had a late model and wanted to match factory finish.

ding-dang-dhu - yo my man. Funnily, we mention the problem with white in the video - takes at least four coats to fully obiterate. I think you'll agree that the learning is very much in the doing - after 20 mns or so you get very familiar with it and have no doubt discovered that some areas are almost perfecton.

.

Hey,

I seemed to have selected memory loss on that bit and was seduced by the picture on the can. Thinking the paint would cover no problem.

Will be buying more white very soon and will wait a month to do more coats.

I can't express how much fun and self satisfaction on doing this. A lot of people are amazed by the finish achieved. And its only my first coat and attempt.

Even my Dad was impressed

Go out and give it a try.........

Don't think anyones done any of the browns - we've mostly opted for blues.

My wiki might help on this as it does show the range. If you want an exact match, some places will mix it for you though it will double the paint costs. Its a good idea to pick a colour that isn't far off what you have though. White over red for instance would be tricky with any kind of paint.

Colour charts are at the bottom of the page but might pay you to ask for a chart tobe sent to you from Rustoleum. Rough guess though, RAL 8001 or RAL 8011 (or even mix both together for a shade between?).

Some RAL paint codes

Post by Bluesunshinepeter »

I've been looking for a RAL conversion for Orientrot LH3B (It's RAL 3031) and Elfenbein L567 (RAL 1014)

Found them here:

http://30pro.de/support/ral-colors.pdf

Also has other VW paint names (but not codes) with RAL/CMyK conversion.
