CHOKE ?

Post by Krisis »

Hello All,
CS1600 diesel, 4 speed box. (slowest, slower, slow, not fast and reverse)
As you may or may not know Nancy's engine is poorly ie valves have embedded themselves into the top of piston number 4. And whilst doing all of the repairs to her I found a cable that has snapped off and was tucked away.
Looking on the injector pump jobby I noticed there is a lever?
Looked at the dash an found another cable, snapped off and tucked out of the way.
She starts great, when running, but is this and is there mean't to be a choke? That is the question?

Its not broke? fiddle with it until it is, then you can fix it
Oh and the name is pronounced CRISIS

it works a bit like the choke on a petrol engine. Its called a cold start lever, I think it advances the timing till the engine has warmed up
