Windscreen leaking..!

Post by HOT 1200 »

Damm windscreen has started leaking, nice pools of water in the foot wells...
I took a look at the seal, looks ok, lifted the rubber a bit in the lower corners, no sign of any rust bubbles....

I would like to fit a new screen & rubber, local windscreen fitters can do it, but Im worried when they remove the old screen/rubber its going to be rotton, then Ive waisted their time and Im left with bus with no front screen.........EEK !

That is indeed highly likely ...otherwise there wouldn't be pools of water.

You're most likely looking at some welding to be done, before you can fit a new windscreen.

Are you certain it's the windscreen? Could be washer jets or any unsealed holes behind the front grill. I'd make sure of the cause before ripping windscreens out as it's a pain in the proverbial. (had to do that with a previous camper :(

Mine used to leak in through the aerial hole! Took me ages to find the problem. Fitted a new aerial and rubber sealing washer, no problems now.
That doesnt mean its not the windscreen though, just another avenue to explore!

Yes I have heard the washer jets can cause leaks.....
I had another look under the seal, no rust.......and the seal is very tight, almost imposible to lift up.........

Would have thought if the washer jets leaked, this would cause water to enter towards the centre of the cab rather than the extream outer corners of the footwells.......?
Ive only got one arial but leaks in both footwells, so that kinda rules out the leaking arial theory........
