Personally, i think home brew campers that try to be full campers are usually a bit bob.
Home brew campers that just fit the individual needs (ie like yours with a bed in and nothing else) are cool and open to some awesome custom vans.
If i ever get a spare bit of cash (after my exterior and interior are done) i want to get a panel van and make a weekend bus out of it - no cooker - just a fridge and space for the barby - oh, and a six seater sofa. Sweet....
It really is a case of each to their own as far as this goes.
When my camper is working properly then all the gear is stored in the little cupboards because having your stuff in crates and bags is a pain when you suddenly need the stuff that's on the bottom.
Cooker inside is so that you can get the breakfast bread products into the oven without leaving the safety of the duvet on cold mornings.
Sink? Well it's handy if you suddenly need to upchuck in the night and is also good for avoiding doing any washing up on the last day.
Van wardrobes allow me to stack my clothes and still get random access to any item in the stack without popping everything off the top first.
I don't know how wide the bed is in my van but it's plenty wide enough for the two of us to do everything you normally want to do in a bed and due to good leverage points some abnormal ones too!
Fridge I agree with, I'd rather have the gas item that is on all the time outside the van when it's running, also in the winter it stays at home as the front cupboard in my hightop is not insulated and will keep cheese and milk and stuff for ages.
If I stayed at home beacause it was raining I'd miss all the sun that came out after I'd set off. I camp as much as I can and not just for three months in the middle.
The toilet inside is a must, it makes toilet stops on the way a matter of seconds. I don't use it much myself, it's for the wimmin.
I like my van, I like all the cupboards, I like that when it's packed you wouldn't know, I like the hightop, I like the oven, I like the blown air LPG heating, I like it's purpley purpleness and it's diesely tractorising. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, that's up to them..

I wouldn't want to put trees and rubish in me lovely westy, its worth to much money to ruin like that. I use it for camping only.
I think if your lucky enough to own a decent camper theres no looking back, if you have a somewhat limited budget you make do best you can at least it was a wise choice of a t3

Westfalia or its customers strangely agreed with brooky,less is more,later westfalias have fewer cubby holes (but much bigger)and chest fridges,they also moved the kitchen to the rear and made the rock and roll seat/bed removable to allow for load carrying, and made all surfaces wipe clean....in the California Exclusive
One thing IMO is unarguable,they do make the finest campervans
(even if they do have issues regarding cooked bread)
