help please

Post by voyageur »

Hi folks my misery started when my cylinder head had cracked
I bought a complete one from partsland international, someone told me
That I should replace the piston rings once the head is off .I decided to drop
The engine out for this and give it a good wash and a coat of paint as well
Strip it all out. All sills and gaskets Benn replaced.
By your help (LOAD OF QUESTIONS) this is how I put it all back
Together, piston of cylinder 1 and 4 been at their highs point of their travel (TDC)
Then cylinder head with the valves on cylinder 1 are closed, their lopes on the cam shaft are pointing up, the pump been timed again and again I bereave is ok now
Engine went back in the van, after few cranks it did fire, then I notice oil leak from
Oil sensor; sort that one out, fire it again for few minutes, noticed oil leak from
Between exhaust manifold and turbo and then engine start squib in rotation motion. This is not simple as it may sound to be honest with you wish I've not touch it
Want your advice please, what could I' ve done wrong?
Is there anyone around here in Kent could deal with it?
Desperate to hear from you

thank you

Hi Voyageur,

we are in Medway, and used a garage called Wallhouse Autos (VW specialist) in Erith, near the bridge/tunnel.

Had my old 2lt cu engine taken out and recon fitted. He had to play around with the carbs and chokes as they were non-standard then, and managed to set it up very well. Had a minor oil leak after 300 miles which he rectified without any hassle.

V.W Centre (Wallhouse Autos)
Unit 12, Maypole Crescent, Erith, Kent DA8 2JZ
Tel: 01322 347513

Don't like recommending places, but Jim did do a good job for me. (if you mention the scooby van, he will know who has passed the recommendation on!)

Hope you can get things sorted

Emma
