putting a bed in a panel van - rock'n'roll or caravelle seat

Post by sheffieldged »

I've got a T25 transporter van that I use for for mostly work but use it for the occasional weekend away.

I've tried getting by with putting a mattress on a few bits of board on tops of crates but now want something a little more permanent but that wont get in the way of using the van for work...and something with seat belts now we have a new addition to the family!

Looking at other posts I reckon I'll be going for the rock and roll hinges and making the rest, but wondering would getting caravelle seats put in be an easier job if they can fold down when I need the space?

If I do go for the rock and roll, does the transporter have seat belt mounts in all the right places?

Can I use belts from another car from a scrappers if they are long enough or will I need to use VW belts?

Last thing, I haven't actually seen a rock and roll bed in the flesh, so can't figure what supports the front when it's pulled forward, looks like it hangs in the air, or do you need to add legs?

Sorry for all the questions in one post, happy with any info or advice you can give...

Jed, looks good. If the seats push forward then I gather that you're sleeping on the backs of the seats and on top of the base you've made. I guess you need to have a mattress to go on top? How do you attach the seat belts?

T'onion, yup, in Sheffield. Would like to see yours (van), have pm'd you.

Cheers, Mark.

Made much more sense once I got a good eyefull...

Lots of ideas to be getting on with. Will look out for hinges and belts and get cracking with the jigsaw.

Love the triple fuel combo, I'll need to do a bit of research before getting into the realms of lpg.
