Thinning to about single cream consistency at the moment, possibly slightly thinner. Its not a disaster, just slow going, persistence is probably the main factor.

I think I'm going to do some experimenting with loading and thinning before the next bit, as I'm also getting a lot of bubbles that must mean I'm going wrong somewhere. When I first start with the roller the paint fizzes with bubbles and squeezing the roller just seems to put air into the paint tray.

You have to have faith that the bubbles will disappear when the paint is on. Mostly, they do. Don't overwork it, just put on a good layer and then move on. A second person following you checking for runs or sags is useful, as CovKid has said many times!

The aim is to get as much paint as possible on but just less than the amount that causes runs. This is really hard to judge as it depends on temperature, paint consistency etc etc. I think I've only got it truly right about 30 or 40 percent of the time but I'm getting better.

The paint really is brilliant at smoothing out as it dries so once youve covered an area leave it alone. The maximum working time is really not long, especially in warm weather!

Incidentally, I've found the RAL 3004 Wine Red covers light patches (like primer) more easily than dark patches (like Vactan). Multiple coats is the key though.

My van is about to have it's final trip to the bodyshop and then I can get on with completing the painting - when it cools down a bit hopefully

I used RAL 5002 as it was. Have a whole tin left over unopened. You only need one tin in my view but two would see you out for additional coats years later or for touching up I guess. Besides its not THAT expensive.

Seams: I'm raking mine out with a small right angled scriber ground down to a fine taper; wire brushing in there; floating RC800 in there with a fine taper brush; then seam sealing with Dinitrol cartridge sealer...

Work as much air out of the roller on the tray first if you can helps... and a 2nd pass right angles to the 1st asap also helps

Having just finished I thought I would post my comments:-

Bubbles, never really did get a coat on without bubbling, but you soon learn how to 'catch' the set when you can run back with a light touch roller to remove them.
I worked 3 coats, flatten back, 4th coat, flatten and buff to finish.
Once 24 hrs didn't give a hard enough set so I could remove trapped flies easily with light wet & dry, but found if you used fine wet & dry with white spirit it worked just fine ready for the next coat.
The paint is very forgiving , you just have to trust flattening and the final polish.

The ability to touch up and flatten in is such a bonus!

Just as a caution though don't expect it to really harden deep down for months... especially on thick edges.
So for instance - don't go dragging the fuelling hose at a garage around a rear quarter panel without expecting to blurr or even pull the paint completely off.

Weather report said zero chance of precipitation today so happily started to paint Lola's last coat of paint the door was looking fab under the window great then oh noo it started to drizzle and bubbles stated to form on the paint eck I thought to my self what do I do now
so here I am do I wait till tomorrow and flat back and re paint or what help plz
