Vital spares for breakdown in France

Post by dazzerT251900td »

Hi everyone.

We are going to Lac Du Salagou at the foot of the pyrenees in April for 2 weeks. Can anyone suggest the vital spares I will need for the journey. We are taking the quickest route down there. Which will be toll roads. :ok

Thank you in advance.

I'll assume you have a 1900TD as you don't specify

Have a search and you'll see this has been covered loads of times  Other than the statutories generally for you it's wire, crimps, gaffer tape, fuses, WD40, oil, anti-freeze (to mix with your own water) brake fluid. BREAKDOWN COVER.

I dont know when your insurance policy runs out but if its up for renewal before you go speak to Paul at Glynwoods and they can add EU breakdown onto your insurance and it will cost a fraction of what the RAC and the AA charge. Adrian Flux and lots of the other do it too, but Paul knows all about vans and goes to all the big shows as he is a VW nut and is realistic about things and makes me feel better when dealing with him.

Age of van can be a problem. We forgot to upgrade to Breakdown when we renewed with Adrian Flux. Ended up using Britannia Rescue, £175 for 12 months UK and European cover. Considering it must have cost almost 3 grand to repatriate us and the van last summer it was small change.
