Camping Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria

Post by mrsbatmangb »

Hello

We are off camping at the end of next week to Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for good winter camping spots? Am looking online but struggling to find many places that are actually open in November!

Many thanks in advance.

for Austria all you need to know is the Attersee.
the 'Attersee' is just a bif lake with small towns around it, beautiful little shops and bakers, restaurant and coffees hoses.
tons of wild camping, mountains and forest.
its the business!
here it is...

oh and take jerry cans with you, Luxembourg has cheap petrol, stock up save yourself a packet!
we camped in the very centre of Luxi city itself, what a bunch of relaxed liberal folk they are too. good food and beer...

enjoy

What Mr Hulley says, but I have a feeling they are closed now - worth an ask as it's a brilliant site. There is also a camping aire almost in the centre of Iseltwald but it's between the railway and the main road so won't be too quiet I'm afraid. There are a few spots around Lake Brienzesee where you can sleepy spot as long as you don't block the road!

We stayed on a site in Bregenz in Austria which was the first one we came to out of the town on the lake side - unfortunately it was a bit smelly and overrun with mozzies - not a problem at this time of the year though I don't think. However there does appear to be a couple of other sites further on which are maybe a bit better!

Have a great time wherever you stay!

Bye the way make sure you have winter tyres. It's very cold now now in Munich with spots of snow. So there will certainly be snow in Austria and Swiss. Fuel up in lux and Austria - fuel is cheap.
It's late in the season and due to the cold many sites are now closed.
Good luck!

I can second this, winter tyres are a must and if you're going up some mountain passes in Austria keep an eye on the weather - snow chains are mandatory when the snow falls.

As stated before, check that the sites are open.
Most of the ones around the Attersee are summer sights.

Fantastic area, the drive up to Grindelwald is awsome! From there you can get to the Oberer Gletsher (glacier). There are also some ice caves, my daughter loves these

I'll second Camping du Lac at Interlaken. But even better is the little camp site at Kandersteg which is at the top of the next valley to the east. The walk to and from Oeschinensee is great!
