Petrol Smell

Post by mikey9 »

Having bought ours a couple of weeks ago - I spotted the dreaded petrol smell when I filled up and feared the worst.

Found it was actually a perished hose from the tank to the expansion bottle in the wheel arch. A lenght of petrol hose later and no smell or leaky fuel. Cost about £1.50......!

Hope this helps.

Had similar prob on my van, petrol tank had corroded at the top as mentioned in previous posts - smell was far worse when tank was full so that might be a sign that its the tank that needs replacing. When we took the tank off you could acutally push your finger through it! Definetely worth checking especially if like me you have the occasional bbq by the side of the van when camping!

Just in case it is, I've got an early petrol tank for sale here (based in Liverpool).

Let me know if you need it.
