was just looking at potential campsites as got a few spare moments at work and came across this-

Third one from the bottom
"No VW camper vans unless stated upon booking"
Who's been upsetting folk there then? lol

They probably got fed up of them not being able to keep up with the speed limit and holding everybody up. :rofl

"Speed limit strictly walking pace on site at all times."

Most camp sites in the UK don't like young people, or those with tents or motorbikes, but they do love old people in those big white things (I can't even say the word)being towed behid cars. Why is that? Over the water in France everybody is welcome. Different culture I guess.

Because you're not viewed as being civilised unless you're back in inside the caravan by 8.30 watching Eastenders. We visited my inlaws at a CC site, all hard standing so reminiscent of a Tesco's carpark and a forest of don't signs, keep off signs and no this and no that signs about as welcoming as Pentonville nick. Then the next night we stayed at a site that was predominantly tents and youngsters tbh it was like a plane load of chavs had crashed in a field and then been air-dropped tents for survival, the noise was epic. Now if you mixed the two together it would probably balance out nicely :idea
Or just hop on a ferry

Stopped at this site last year. They have asked their IT guy to get that rule removed many times. The storey was that a load idiots turned up in VW campervans and stayed for a week without paying, refused to leave and distrupted all the other guests. The lady who owns the site had a sick horse at the time which didn't help. Anyway they welcomed us and what a great site it was (shame about the view!) Rob

...until they count the axles on the shed being dragged, get to "more than one", and decide you must be a pikey therefore unwelcome. According to the large signs at reception on many French campsites.

Why don't they just put a sign saying "We don't want people who are going to come, disrupt everything and everybody, then pi$$ off without paying..." instead?

Well you are right, different culture. i lived in south of france since birth to 22year old, and i think it's just a question of in general people i think are poorer so camping is camping (people that can't afford the hotel). Before to come to the UK i have never heard and seen a guy bringing sofa and satelite tv in his "white thing" to the camping (very sad, i think). OR they use this club label as swingers undercover

the more basic the most enjoyable and memorable, that's my opinion. can't wait to go camping now :ok

perhaps he's a shed dragger who doesnt like the smug grins that camper owners give him LOL,

Just shared that expression with the wife - she loved it too - and since im going away with my brother and his circle of shed dragging friends at easter i'll take great pleasure in sharing it with them too :rofl
