Any nice stop overs near Bury (Lancs) ?

Post by ghost123uk »

Hi all,bit short notice but hey ho, we have to go to Bury this afternoon and have decided to go in the camper and stay over somewhere. Tried Kathy's website (http://www.funplace2b.co.uk/camp/default.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but no results.

Anyone know of any nice sleepy spots, wild, rural pub or camp site, within say a 25 mile radius of the Bury, Rochdale and Bolton area ?

Thinking of either nice countryside, country pub with camping or perhaps Victorian pumping station, canal museum, Steam railway venues etc.

Looked at "Burrs" and it seems a bit "Caravan Club formal" and "Brocklehead Caravan Park" is on a farm so should be OK but it is "reet up top" and it is blowing a gale and sleeting here and well cold, so that might not be ideal.

Hi Stewart, your link doesn't seem too work but I found it anyway ( http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/revie ... revid=2275" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) and it seems the best so far :ok

We first went to the Brocklehead caravan Park and it looked carp !!
Just a farmers field on a bleak and blowy top, overlooking a HUGE industrial estate ! Not for us, so...

Thanks for that Stewart, we ended up staying there :) It was quite OK, fortunately it was not busy as most of the plots are rather nasty gravel hard standing, but we found a nice grassy corner :) (there are 2 other 100% grass fields, but they were not in use at this quiet time) Shame the weather was damp and cold :( The pub by the lake was good though, with lots of fancy 2 wheeled hardware in attendance ! Nice walks around the lake etc available and the camp site lady was friendly, it cost £14.
