This makes for worrying reading. I for one know how fruity RJES exhausts are, for example, so what would happen if you got pulled and they decided that it is too loud? "Bought in good faith officer" won't cut it.
You're nicked, boo hoo etc.

Even a high street lawer could get you off that! "The device tests the volume of exhausts and records noise levels when idle and revving to find an average reading". How inconclusive is that?! Are they really going to be able to exhert the exact same amount of revs to every vehicle tested in order to ensure the "average" result is fairly comparable to the recommended decebels? And how will they do that to vehicles with no rev limiter?

Brilliant news, I live in a sleepy village which can be so quiet you can hear a pin drop. The cars and bikes with loud exhausts are an unnecessary intrusion and loud enough to wake you up at night. Especially as the people who like to fit loud exhaust's always seem to drive to fast as well. A loud exhaust is a pointless modification that usually leaves you with a mid range stumble. :P

Some one had better let roger know that he should not head over this way then. I tend to agree with you simon we live on quite a busy road the norml cars and bikes. Sceam to blend in, but I don't get h/d bikers normaly on a sportster ( normally over 50 years old and with a brand new leather jacket showing there membership to the Surrey chapter) with straight through pipes.same can be said to most of the boy racers with there peoco big bore 4 on the ford focus 1.4 there is a difference between a noise and a sound. Oh and while I am having a rant anything that is a 2 stroke makes a noise,

Neil

Agreed, there is a difference between a noise and a sound, and a half decent cop should be able to tell the difference. Two strokes must be the most infuriating, whilst a nice subaru or wbx grumble is pleasant to hear.

Mines loud, scooby with a straight through exhaust! been pulled for it but they couldnt do owt, have to hold it at 2000 rpm, and with out a rev counter you cant!
