quick question

Post by ambivert »

would a set of 4 VW 14" alloys like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Polo-1 ... _994wt_732" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a bit scuffed with 3 ok-ish tyres + 1 borderline represent good value for money at 40 quid (for the lot)? also, afaik, they originally off a golf/polo, so as a van is much heavier, would they be safe? or is it just the tyres that would need to be uprated?

40 is OK price wise

I would go for bigger wheels that are designed to take a van that weighs in at 2 tonnes

I would be suprised summit designed with a 1 ton vehicle would stand up to a 2 ton van you would need to find out the load rating of um!

ah ok, so its the wheels that are rated, not just the tyres then? but if its just down to the size of the wheels, then it should be ok as they are no smaller than standard steels?

Standard wheels are 14", but they look lost on such a big vehicle

nah, or maybe I have just got used to them, they look OK to me, but perhaps it depends on what kind of boat you have for a roof...

From memory I think the PCD of those Polo wheels will be 5x100 not the 5x112 you need for your van anyway?

You may be right, its probably possible to look them up somewhere. But no need cos the seller is very local, so I can just try chucking em on. I guess I just wanted a 2nd opinion, as to the price (seeing as won't be so cheap once I've cleaned them up and changed all the tyres) and to know if they were even worth bothering to get dirty for, cheers.
