I want a remote for the eberspacher but their too expensive!
Has anyone come up with a cheaper solution than £250? Im not paying that!
It would be very handy to press a button now and get it to switch on for 30 mins before i leave work!
Damn their expensive.
Cheers,
Ringo

Bit Blue Peter.
But im guessing the heater just needs a 12V trigger.
So grab a £10 led lamp with remote and use a light sensitive transistor to trigger the heater. Light on heater on
Or old mobile or pager remove the vibrator and swap for transistor.
If your not up for Blue Peter effort you could always get some thing like this.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=46972" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; got a 30M range.

Use one of these.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-12-VOLT ... 587e627f5b
It just wires to the 12v live on the Eber (or any other 12v appliance). Leave the Eber switched on at it's switch then just turn it on and off with the remote. All for under 20 quid.
I use one of these for my UV lighting on my Bug and they work a treat.
Only problem I can forsee is doesn't the Eber have to go through a sort of cooling down cycle when you switch it off?

Some cracking ideas there guys - thanks very much.
For one of those devices i would have to use a relay and only use it for switching on. Not sure about the range but its worth thinking about.
You've got me thinking how else i could use one of those now!
Cheers,
Ringo
PS Collette - yes, you do need a eber They rock!

This looks the nuts:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GSM-REMOTE-CONTRO ... 2a0386f1f1
Would be cool to wire this up so i can switch it on and off (properly) via a text message.
Might have to get my multimeter out and eber manual to see what connector on the rotary dial i have to switch.

I have a 7 day timer but i dont like it. Im not forward thinking enough. You have to set it up too precisely. If i leave the pub i want to be able to turn the heater on so its nice and toasty after my walk home
