Syncro plastic wheel arches

Post by el sketcho »

Does anybody know if these would fit on a non syncro and where I could get some?

The proper Syncro wheel arches only came on the 16" Syncro. They were put there to a) widen the wheel arch and b) cover up the rather nasty cut-out in the front wheel arch that was necessary to allow full stering lock with the bigger 16" wheels. So the arches only fit properly if you hack away some sheet metal at the front.

More importantly though, they are now well rare and ridiculously expensive ...recently saw a set going for 900 euro

busman has fiberglass reproductons. 365 euros, and you still have to cut the arches, but at least they are not 900e.

I saw a syncro down at the ace cafe and thought "they look good, quite mk1 golf gti, they'd look good on my white and black van" Not at those prices tho.

I have 14'' plastic arches on mine,

Image

The fronts were put on 2wd german post office vans so posty doesnt get his uniform dirty and the backs are fiberglass.

I heard vw are starting to do the 16'' arches again.

I'd be interested in them, if they could fit a non syncro van.
