Twin Headlight Conversion

Post by nesty »

Hi

I got a set of Twin headlights to fit to my T25. I have single round ones at the moment.

Are there any instructions anywhere with pictures to help you do this. I checked the WIKI, but nothing kinda there.

i fitted the twins this week from single round ones.

I made up a bracket to fit them on hte bottom in side hole and screw in the top inside fitting.
Some campers later ones had the bracket already fitted if your is like mine its flat all along the bottom edge.
It takes a little time getting the curve in the bracket but its easy.
The wiring fir the side light can be taken from the existing loom your just need to make an earth point usuing a scew and two spade connectors.

If you need any help or more info justask

no mate its part of the actual body they were fitted to later models,

The two tabs on the headlight need bra kets making from the bodywork up to the tabs on the headlight. To make them fit they have to be made into right angled "s" shapes

You can adjust the securing flange on the twin headlights (gently) and skip using an additional bracket, some peeps (incluiding moi) went that route! Fits and secures fine ........ :D Post a piccy if it helps!

Don't know if you've fitted them yet but when I fitted mine (to an early van) a couple of years ago I bought the proper metal tab parts from VW for about a fiver, if I remember correctly they locate in a dimple on the surround and I riveted them in. I had to slightly modify the loom on the NS (stripped off some of the binding and re-wrapped as two bundles) to allow the inner lamp to seat flush.

I'm picking up a new van tomorrow and will be swapping the lights over to it probably at the weekend, if it's not too wet I'll take some pics and make a wiki entry showing how.

No I haven't got around to it yet!

That would be great to get some pics up for a Wiki entry.
